Volunteer - Job Descriptions

Project-oriented
These are great jobs for those who have limited time each month or prefer more sporadically-assigned tasks.

Events
About every two months or so, APAIT sponsors, hosts, or participates in an event. Volunteers can help in all aspects of an event, whether it's marching in the June Long Beach Pride parade, cooking for a Fourth of July barbecue, or moving furniture when we re-organize our offices.

Long-term

Peer Health Educator (for Women's, Men's, and Transgender programs)
Duties:
Outreach at least once a month to API communities, including club, bar, and street environments. Co-facilitate behavior change workshops. Develop community leadership skills.
Qualifications:
Must be culturally competent and sensitive to various API communities and concerns. Bilingual, especially in Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, and Chinese a plus but not required. Various hours available, commitments from 3-6 months. Must commit at least 4 hours a month (or one outreach per month).

Clerical Assistant
Duties:
Compose inter/intra-office correspondences, operational records, and meeting summaries. Maintain spreadsheet of program expenses and provide monthly expense reports. File and sort program reports, personnel records, and office communications. Assist with the organization and maintenance of database.
Qualifications:
Organized and responsible with minimal supervision. Computer competent in Microsoft Office. Must commit at least 4 hours a week for 3 months.

Internships
Individualized internships for credit may be available depending on collaboration between a school and the agency. Students will develop internship descriptions based on their research interests, staff availability, and school guidelines.
