GOAL
The Research on API’s, HIV, and Health Disparities (RAPIHHD) National Summit is a groundbreaking collaboration of key representatives from research, policy, government, and community sectors. The aim of the summit is to summarize and build upon current behavioral, clinical, and epidemiological research on HIV/AIDS and associated co-factors and co-morbidities in the Asian and Pacififi c Islander American (APIA) community.

THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE SUMMIT ARE:
To bring together key representatives from the scientific, policy, government, and community sectors who share a common pursuit of addressing HIV/AIDS in the API community. Sub-goals within this are:
• To bridge the gap between community and research
• To build the scientific literacy of the community around issues of HIV/AIDS and associated co-factors and co-morbidities
• To establish linkages that facilitate community needs fueling research direction
• To summarize and cultivate a comprehensive understanding of the body of literature on HIV/AIDS in the APIA community to date.
• To develop a preliminary gap analysis of unmet research needs on HIV/AIDS in the APIA population

EDUCATIONAL FORMAT
The Summit will open with a Key note speech addressing the current state of Research with regard to APIs and HIV in the United States. Subsequent plenary sessions will elaborate on current HIV Prevention and Care research, gaps in research, policy affecting research, community and research partnerships, and emerging co-factors. On day two (2), the summit will open with a Key note speech addressing Service Integration of HIV and Co-Morbidities. Subsequent plenary sessions will elaborate on current service delivery models that include: HIV and Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, HIV, Hepatitis B and Diabetes, HIV and TB, and HIV, STD, Nutrition, Mental Health and Acupuncture services. The final plenary session will focus on service delivery gaps and research that has high potential to improve HIV prevention and/or care in highly impacted or under-researched sectors of the API population. Feedback from Summit participants will be solicited for each session to be included in a position paper which outlines the gaps in research and integrated service delivery models in the APIA community.

SUMMIT OUTCOME
The findings and data gathered during the Summit will undergo a peer review process before publication in journals specific to HIV/AIDS and related Co-Morbidities and Co-Factors.
