Don’t miss your chance to participate in the 2004 HIV Prevention Leadership Summit (HPLS), set for June 16-19, in Atlanta, GA at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center. Formerly known as the Community Planning Leadership Summit for HIV Prevention (CPLS), the meeting’s new name reflects its expanded and enhanced format, which will include over 100 workshops, roundtables and other sessions focused on the theme, “Retooling to Maximize the Power of Prevention.”

HPLS seeks to strengthen existing linkages among HIV prevention partners, such as health departments; community-based organizations; capacity building assistance providers; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC) Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (DHAP); and other federal agencies. These relationships, in turn, will help partners provide more effective HIV prevention programs overall. This is especially important in light of the new CDC initiative, “Advancing HIV Prevention: New Strategies for a Changing Epidemic,” which emphasizes the prevention needs of people living with HIV/AIDS; the importance of counseling and testing, including rapid testing; and the creation of effective linkages between prevention and care.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS
Those interested in overseeing an HPLS workshop, roundtable or pathway session related to HIV prevention and effective prevention programs and interventions are urged to submit an abstract for consideration.
