Love is Love: Raising the Issue of Same-Gender Marriage In the Asian and Pacific Islander Communities (A Town Hall Forum )

The Asian Pacific Pride Council (APC) is sponsoring a town hall forum to discuss the issue of same-gender marriage in the Asian and Pacific Islander communities on Saturday, May 15, 2004, from 2:30-5pm, at Centenary United Methodist Church, 300 South Central in Little Tokyo.

President Bush called for a constitutional amendment to keep marriage strictly between a man and a woman. San Francisco granted marriage licenses to dozens of gay men and lesbians, only to be halted by the Supreme Court. Same-gender marriage will be a hotly debated issue in the coming year. How does all of this relate to the Asian and Pacific Islander communities in Los Angeles?

APC, a body that includes the Gay Asian Pacific Support Network, Chinese Rainbow Association, the gay South Asian group Satrang, Asian Pacific Islander for Human Rights, Search to Involve Pilipino Americans, Barangay, the gay Filipino organization, the API Chapter of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, and the Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team, will present ideas on same-gender marriage and engage in discussion with the community.
