The Asian Pacific Islander (API) HIV/AIDS Caucus of LA County

The API HIV/AIDS Caucus of LA County is a subcommittee of the Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council (A3PCON) hyperlink to www.a3pcon.org which is comprised of over 12 Asian and Pacific Islander ethnic communities and 20 community-based organizations addressing HIV/AIDS issues and providing HIV/AIDS services.

MISSION

The API HIV/AIDS Caucus seeks to ensure culturally competent and linguistically sensitive HIV/AIDS services for Asian and Pacific Islander communities through leadership, partnership, advocacy, resources and training.

GOALS

The API HIV/AIDS Caucus seeks to:

  • INCREASE public awareness and access to HIV/AIDS related services in the API communities
  • DEVELOP a group of providers, clients, and other interested persons to share resources and strategize, network, and collaborate to better serve the needs of the API communities.
  • TRAIN and enhance members’ skills to advocate for the needs of HIV/AIDS services for the API communities at local, state and national levels.

MEMBERSHIP

Member agencies of A3PCON (Asian Pacific Policy & Planning Council) are already members of the HIV/AIDS Caucus. Any organization or individual is welcome to attend meetings, participate in events, and join the API HIV/AIDS Caucus. Meetings are usually held on the 3rd Friday of the month at the Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team (605 W. Olympic Blvd, Suite 610; LA, CA 90015).
